The forerunning single “Last Dance” has not budged from the top position of the German Alternative Charts when Covenant announces the new album Leaving Babylon to be released on September 6th. Built around a structure of majestic synths, quirky noises, unexpected harmonies, scary singing machines and fog horns, massive beats and Eskil’s signature vocals, the singles dark and atmospheric vibe sets the tone for the overall feel of the album. Balancing a return to their early EBM roots with their modern electronic soundscapes, Covenant digs deep into their history and incorporates threads from each of their early releases and weaves it into Leaving Babylon. “The stars shines so bright when it’s dark” says Eskil Simonsson, the bands singer and front man, about the feel of the new album and the troubled world in which we find ourselves. From the industrial shimmer of the opening title track to the midnight dancefloor beats of "Prime Movers" and emotional heft of "Ignorance and Bliss ", this album shows the band expanding the range of their sound while creating a new chapter for their already storied career. Club songs and experimental numbers will cause listeners’ ears to pick up the sporadic guitar chords of “I Walk Slow”, the harpsichord in the intro “Thy Kingdom Come” and the piano in the closing ballad “Not to Be Here“. These are just some examples that prove that Covenant continues to develop their talents in arrangement. With every album they continue to build up their own electronic pop monument, and with Leaving Babylon, they seem to found just the right balance of the accessible and the experimental. The cover shows a stylized tower as a polygon, reaching into the sky before a stormy background. “Signal to Noise” is the phenomenon of communication making random noise out of a signal, wherein the original information gets lost. Hence, one theme of the album is about the pervasive acceleration of communication, which holds society in its grasp and for the order of knowledge. This historically began earlier and has now entered a new stage in the age of internet-assisted data processing: “The floor collapses as we dance”. The album is available as a limited version of 5000 copies. Included with the eight-panel glossy digipak are an extra booklet and an exclusive bonus CD featuring Swedish poetess Helena Österlund.

Iszoloscope Yann Faussurier, Guillaume Nadon
Yann Faussurier underwent a lot of introspection before arriving at the sinister, squalling noise he now produces as Iszoloscope. Dismissive of any mainstream music ("it always has been a real joke to me"), Faussurier found his place on the vast musical continuum through videogames, of all things. A fervent gamer, he says he derived a lot of his esthetic direction from games like Doom¸ Nocturne and Unreal Tournament and a sci-fi shooter called R-Type, all of which combine moody action and eerie soundtracks. After becoming acquainted with the menacing atmospherics of artists like Future Sound Of London, The, Coil and Scorn, Faussurier began DJing at CHUO 89.1 FM (the University of Ottawa's radio station) with friend François Bénard. The two started composing original music together in 1999. Caustic and experimental, the work they created under the esoteric Iszoloscope moniker consisted of heavily processed ambience and bristling noisy beats. The duo's first full-length, Coagulating Wreckage, was released on Belgium's Spectre label in September, 2001; by then, however, Bénard had already quit the project. That suited Faussurier just fine. After gathering field-recorded samples, he manipulates them with all sorts of effects. Faussurier has no preconceived ideas of the result; the processed samples end up sounding nothing like the source material, which is what makes albums like Aquifère (2002) and Au Seuil Du Néant (2003, Ant-Zen) sound so alien.
As of today, Iszoloscope has remixed countless artists, appeared on dozens compilations, produced 2 more full length albums on the German label Ant-Zen Les Gorges Des Limbes (2004), and The Audient Void (2005) along with several EPs and collaborations on the European labels Yb70 and Ad Noiseam. A lot of electronic music tends to be bold and shimmering; Iszoloscope's sound is more jagged and elusive. What makes the project even more unusual is the fact that such outlandish noise should emanate from a burgh like Ottawa: O-Town ain't exactly a buzzword in electronic circles.
In 2008 Guillaume Nadon joined as active member of Iszoloscope.

COVENANT "MOdERN RUIN "<New Release> NEW ALBUM 'Modern Ruin' OUT NOW!!
Just before embarking on a mid-America West Coast teaser tour for their upcoming album, Covenant's Eskil announces via a post on the official Covenant website that their new album "Modern Ruin" will be delayed and will only see the light of day in mid-spring 2010, at the earliest. The delay has been caused by what Eskil calls "the reconstruction of the band's German label SPV". Meanwhile the band are performing new songs: "(...) I would like to take the opportunity to say thanks to our many friends around Terra Firma for the patience enduring our new songs when they are being shaped and rebound. There won't be any rewards in afterlife though as we consider afterlife most improbable as desirable. This is our time, its your time."
Covenant consisting now of Daniel Myer, Eskil Simonsson and Joakim Montelius, will be touring the USA without Joakim. Imperative Reaction's Sam will be replacing Joakim. Below is the trailer for the new Covenant album "Modern Ruin", captured from their official website.

➤SKOLD VS KMFDM Tim Skold (SHOTGUN MESSIAH, KMFDM, MARILYN MANSON) and Sascha Konietzko (KMFDM) are collaborating on a new album/project called SKOLD VS KMFDM. The hard-hitting, fun and aggressive industrial rock album will feature 22 tracks and more than 70 minutes of quality mayhem. The songs tend to combine the technical guitar work and lyrical wordplay of SKOLD with the heavy beat electro formula of KMFDM. Neither a SKOLD album or simply KMFDM, it is said to be a wonderful combination of both entities.
➤Tim Skold Skold joined KMFDM in 1997 and appeared on the album "Symbols", writing and singing on the song "Anarchy", which became a hit in clubs and spawned subsequent remixes of the track done by Skold himself. His next album with KMFDM, "Adios", was released in 1999, with Skold taking a more prominent role in the band — not only as co-vocalist, co-writer, and bassist, but also as producer, engineer, and programmer alongside KMFDM's founder Sascha Konietzko. Due to turmoil within the band, Konietzko and Skold parted ways and disbanded KMFDM in 1999, re-starting as MDFMK the following year. They released just one album: "MDFMK" (2000, Universal Records). The band, with Lucia Cifarelli (formerly of DRILL), took on a more "futuristic" sound, which contained less of the four on the floor KMFDM was known for and added a mix of drum and bass, trance and Europop, primarily in a production style leaning towards "electronica." MDFMK featured all three members sharing vocal duties. Their song "Missing Time" was used in the animated movie "Heavy Metal 2000". A couple of years later the trio reformed KMFDM and released "Attak" before Skold left to join MARILYN MANSON.
